Live Tsunami Coverage from Hawaii

It is a beautiful morning in Hawaii, clear and warm.

But there is a bevy of activity in the islands as residents prepare for a tsunami. The series of waves is propagating outward from the epicenter of the earthquake, which struck off the coast of Chile across the Pacific late last night.

Police, fire and civil defense are clearing the coastline. Sirens will begin sounding at 6 a.m. to warn residents to move away from the shore.

Scientists at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warn that the tsunami will arrive after11 a.m. Hawaiian time and they forecast a 12 foot high surge of water washing around the islands. It is not a single wave but a series of waves associated with the huge mass of water.
