A dangerous outbreak of organized severe thunderstorms with strong, damaging winds is expected this afternoon and evening from Arkansas eastwards through Pennsylvania and into New England.
An area from Ohio through Pennsylvania and New York into southern New England is especially at risk for long-lasting storms that could generate destructive wind gusts in excess of 70 mph from late this afternoon until well after dark.
Tornadoes will also be possible in some storms, especially near a warm front extending from northern Pennsylvania and southern New York east to Massachusetts and Connecticut tonight.
