Late this afternoon, Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft finds that the depression has become a tropical storm, thus Tropical Storm Isaac is named.
We are in the very early stages of this storm, and at this time Isaac appears to be 5 to 7 days from anywhere near the U.S. Coastline.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe and the surrounding islands, and St. Martin.
In the coming days Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands may be affected by the storm.
Isaac could become a minimal hurricane in a few days, and model data will become more accurate by early in the weekend.
