Wind shear and dry air has weakened Tropical Storm Karen a bit more this morning.
Hurricane hunter aircraft data indicate maximum sustained winds are now 50 mph.
However, some restrengthening is possible on Saturday Night and Sunday as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast.
Karen is centered about 250 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River. The tropical storm warning has been extended westward from Grand Isle to Morgan City, Louisiana.
The hurricane watch could be changed to a tropical storm watch or warning later today.
The forecast track brings the center of Karen near the coastline within the tropical storm warning area Saturday Night.
